The Stutz

Indianapolis, IN

Brian McCutcheon and Julian Jamaal Jones seek to shine a light on the complexities of meeting critical infrastructure needs while supporting the social and economic health of city neighborhoods. 65/70 Riff memorializes and preserves the history of neighborhoods upended through transportation projects, while optimistically looking toward a future in which communities are instead fortified through healthy redevelopment. The artwork draws on visual references to the Stutz building's automotive past, merging highway infrastructure elements with improvisational abstraction to express an exuberant celebration of revitalization that centers and prioritizes community and creativity.
